The architecture of the town centre and the vehicles of the day serve as a reminder of a yuletide of the past when life was a little different from today.

This idyllic 1950s summer scene is the third in the Best of British series of nostalgic oil paintings - entitled ‘Four Seasons’ - we have specially commissioned from celebrated artist Trevor Mitchell.
This brand new picture, entitled A Summer Picnic, is available as a limited edition print, signed and numbered by the artist. The serene riverside setting depicts that special beauty of a British season from days gone by - a time when steam trains and open-topped Morris Minors were familiar sights and leisure time was not so scarce. Its rural setting is based on a northern village, with trees magnificently portrayed in full summer splendour. Adults enjoy a relaxing picnic and children safely paddle and fish in the shallows while mother ducks take their young for a swim on the tranquil water.

The image area is 13½ by 18 inches. The prints are sent wrapped in acid-free tissue paper, flat-packed between two sheets of board.
